Over a 30-year career, Stuart has worked in management and operational roles for larger companies in insurance, retail, chemicals and agriculture. This has given him a clear understanding of the scientific and technical aspects of product development and research along with a strong commercial focus – before joining with long-time associate Robert Jones in Vebiz, their specialist grants assistance firm, 15 years ago. 

Stuart’s systems excellence and personal leadership approach have equipped him to be responsible for so many of the textile fashion industry business programs that were successful for over 20 years.  Stuart had a stint with a young family in the outback of NSW managing a group of sheep and cattle properties – learning real self-reliance and that a helping hand should be accepted when it is available.

Robert qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Young and worked for several other CA firms in Australia, including Coopers & Lybrand, and in the UK before joining TNT Australia. 

Rob has worked in major Australian Professional firms. He has managed corporate computer upgrade projects for Y2K (those over 40 won’t need Wikipedia) and with Australian government programs for the last 20 years. 

Since 1992 he has worked in business consulting and helped to establish Vebiz as an advisory and grants consulting firm. He has been involved in activities with the small business sector and with significant projects for BHP, Boral and Vodafone. 

Rob’s experience includes establishing and launching two Early-Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnerships (ESVCLPs). He has authored and managed early-stage capital raising and has been an associate of the National Stock Exchange (NSX).

Robert has worked with Stuart Smith on business advisory and grants since 2003. He holds degrees in Business, Economics and Computer Science.
